Rainbow Lake

Distance:

8km up, 8km down

Description.

A steady climb up the valley between Rainbow and Sproat mountains this trail emerges into the alpine as it reaches the lake. The scenery below the lake is largely within the trees though there are some open areas and glades as hikers approach the lake. The lake itself is not open to swimming as it is a water source for Whistler. The meadows are quite scenic but as the climb is not very steep the trail is easier than many of the other climbs in the valley.

For those adventurous folks that need more the hike continues over the summit with a campground a kilomter further and drops down into the Callahagn Valley, this part has not been included in the map or distance stated.

Time Requirements:

2 - 7 hours

Access:

Access is off Alta Lake Road just north of the Cemetary and is well marked. Parking is available on either side of the road and there are maps and posted information at this point as well. The lower portion is open to bikes giving the option to ride part.
