Joffre Lake
Distance to Upper Lake: ~5km.
Roundtrip ~11km
Description.
A little north of Pemberton and Mount Curry on the Duffy Lake Road, the Joffre Lakes offer picturesque lakes set under towering mountain peak. The upper lake is just above the treeline and is tucked right underneath the peaks and glaciers that dominate the sightlines. The relative shortness of this hike makes it one of the easiest and fastest ways to see some of the grandest scenery in the Sea to Sky corridor. The trail does feature some sections across boulders (in the lower reaches) and some steep climbs but is not overly difficult.
For those just driving by the lower lake is within minutes of the parking lot and makes a scenic rest stop.
At the top are a number of basic campsites.
Time Requirements:
3 - 6 hours
Access:
Driving north from Whistler follow Highway 99 to Mount Curry (where the speed limit drops to 30km/h) and turn right onto the Duffy Lake Road towards Lilloett (also labelled as Highway 99). Climbing out of the valley there are a number of steep switch backs and the trail is shortly after these on the right and is well marked.
